ChiChi first makes her appearance in the Dragonball series; episode 7 entitled "the Ox King on Fire Mountain".

Goku, Bulma and Oolong are in search of the six stars Dragonball. The Dragon radar takes them up to the Fire Mountain on which the fearsome giant named Ox King lives. (Oolong is the only one who knows about this and as they travel up to the fire mountain he is beginning to get more and more scared) As they continue their trip up to the fire mountain they find out to their own shock that the castle located on top of the fire Mountain has gone up into flames. Thinking the Dragonball was in the midst of the fire Goku jumps on his Nimbus and tries to reach over the fire and so getting into the castle. However the flames reached up the moment Goku wanted to cross, putting fire to Goku's tail. In screaming rush he jumped straight in to the lake. In the meantime Oolong and Bulma look from a distance, never noticing a giant was sneaking up to them.

Young ChiChiSomewhere a little further away, we find a young girl running like crazy from a T-rex who is planning to have her for his lunch. She screams and cries out for help, never noticing the young man named Yamucha watching her from a far. As she runs she suddenly turns around, closes her eyes and with the help of her helmet she slices straight through the T-rex's head. Once the T-rex falls down she suddenly sees Yamucha walking up to her, getting ready to kill him as well Yamucha quickly knocks her out cold and leaves her behind to quickly spy on Bulma and the others.

Back at the fire mountain the giant that was sneaking up to Bulma and Oolong throws his axe at the two, just missing them by a few inches. Goku hears them screaming and reaches out to take his power pole, with the help of the pole he pushes himself out of the lake and lands straight between the Ox King and his two friends. He has a short fight with the giant, until the giant stops fighting once he gets a good view of the pole Goku is fighting him with. He recognizes the pole as the pole that once belonged to his old friend, Son Gohan. Once they start talking the giant, named Ox King reveals that together with Goku's grandfather he has been training under Master Roshi. At this point Goku asks for the Dragonball and the Ox King agrees with giving him the Dragonball only on one condition, if Goku would pay a visit to Master Roshi and pick up the Bansho Fan, which would help put the fire out. And while he is on the way, pick up the Ox King's young daughter, named ChiChi. Yamucha over hears this and realizes that the girl he had knocked out cold was ChiChi, quickly he runs like crazy to where he had left her and wakes her up. The moment she wakes up she gets ready to attack him again, Yamucha quickly tells her that he didn't want to attack her and that he in fact was in love with the young girl. The girl blushes but before he could go any further with his plans he sees Goku in the distance riding his cloud, Yamucha takes a run for it while ChiChi was still blushing and lost in her own dreamy world. Once Goku finally reaches ChiChi, who had by then realized that Yamucha, her secret admiror has vanished. Goku catches her attenion and asks her if she is ChiChi then tells her that he is going to go in search of Master Roshi with her to get the Bansho fan. She tries to get on his Nimbus only has a little difficulties with climbing on top of it. She sees Goku's tail and takes it to help herself getting up. Never knowing that this is his weakest point, the moment she pulls on it Goku loses all of his strength and falls off his Nimbus instead.

Goku is at this point in time still is utterly clueless about pointing out girls from boys. So as they travel Nimbus and ChiChi clings on to Goku while in flight, Goku slowly turns around, raises his foot and pats her in her private area. ChiChi's eyes widen and in completely outrage pushes Goku of Nimbus. A few moments later, once Goku has recovered from his fall and is back on top of Nimbus, they're travel further towards Master Roshi's island. ChiChi is actually rather flattered by his bold move and from that moment has fallen head over heals for him.

So cute.

After this episode she appears in the second one, in which they find Master Roshi only to discover that he no longer has the Bansho Fan in his possession. But the old man says he has something else that might help put the fire out. They take Master Roshi back to the Fire Mountain and there the old Martial Artist tries to put out the fire with creating a ki wave. In this episode the famous frequent used power wave named the 'Kamehameha wave' was first used.

The PromiseBy using this wave he tries to put the fire out, instead, he blows up nearly the whole castle. Every body looks shocked at first, but in the end are happy since the fire has finally stopped. In the end the Ox King holds up to his promise and gives him the six star Dragonball. Also, in this episode, Goku first tries out the wave himself. Astounding everyone, including the old Martial Arts teacher Master Roshi when he actually pulls of the wave in his first try. Before Bulma, Goku and Oolong set out to leave and go after the next Dragonball. ChiChi stops Goku and asks him to make her a promise that as soon as they were at the right age, he would come to her and ask for her hand in marriage. Goku thinks that the word 'bride' means something that he can eat, eagerly agrees up on that. Never knowing in the end that at this young age, he was already engaged.

After these two episodes it takes a short while for we get to see ChiChi again. She reappears together with her father in the 'Red Ribbon Army Saga' episode 31 'Wedding plans?'.

In this saga Goku has to face off the Red Ribbon army, however the saga initially starts out with Goku trying to find his four stars Dragonball (of which he thinks his grandfather's spirit still resides in). On his way he has to battle of the Red Ribbon Army plus Emperor Pilaf, Shu and Mai. In episode 31, he chases after Emperor Pilaf, thinking the Dragonball is in his possession. Emperor Pilaf tries to shoo Goku away by pulling open the window of his huge aircraft, never considering that the moment he would do that the air would suck him out of the aircraft. Falling down towards the Earth Goku quickly speeds after him, while he is falling Goku tells him that he would safe him -if- Pilaf would give him the Dragonball. The emperor agrees and once back in the aircraft Shu and Mai are ordered to quickly put a fake Dragonball together and give this one to Goku instead. They wait for a while and then the two come out with the fake one all covered up. They quickly hand this one over to Goku and rush off, leaving Goku behind with a fake one. Once they were out of sight, Goku unwrapped the Dragonball only to have it fall apart right in his hands. He decides to go on after Pilaf, never knowing that in the distance, laid the Ox King village.

He's Coming! The Ox King had by then made peace with the villagers and was actually living rather peacefully with the rest of the villagers. In this episode, we see ChiChi starring a head of her thinking about Goku and their future wedding. Her father sees her in constant starring mode and decides he should take her to the fortune teller of their village, so they would know when Goku would finally come back to his daughter. The fortune teller tells her that he is actually already on his way. The Ox King is really excited and gathers around the villagers to start prepare the wedding.

The Goku and ChiChi scene starts later on, when Goku goes and finds himself something to eat in the apple tree by a lake. He notices ChiChi sitting there by the lake and he quickly joins her. In the next episode we find the two talking for a while never realizing Emperor Pilaf and his henchmen had gotten in to a fight with the Red Ribbon Army. Until a huge explosion gets their attention and ChiChi yells that that's her village. They quickly go to the village and get in to a fight with the Red Ribbon Army. They find the Ox King was captured by the Red Ribbon Army and free him from his restrains. Once the Red Ribbon Army goes right after emperor Pilaf and Goku quickly follows.
This is the last time we see ChiChi as a young girl, the next time we see her as a seventeen year old appearing at the 23rd Budokai Tournament.
